Beaverlodge RCMP Request Public’s Assistance to ID suspects

Beaverlodge, Alberta – The Beaverlodge RCMP are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying males involved in a firearm investigation.

On September 3, 2017 at approximately 1 A.M. Beaverlodge RCMP responded to a call at the Beaverlodge Tavern after an altercation with a group of males resulted in a sawed off shot gun being pointed at some of the males.

Surveillance cameras captured the attached images of a males involved. Grande Prairie RCMP investigate woman’s death on southside of the city

Grande Prairie, Alberta – This morning at approximately 01:58 a.m., Grande Prairie Emergency Service personnel responded to a report of a fire in a holiday trailer, that was parked on the roadway near 73 Avenue and 106 Street. A female who was inside the holiday trailer, was later confirmed deceased. No one else was injured.

The investigation is ongoing and an autopsy will be completed by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Edmonton to determine the cause of death.

The name of the deceased will not be released at this time.

Grande Prairie RCMP Investigate Stolen Generators

Grande Prairie, Alberta –Since June 1, 2017, the Grande Prairie Municipal and Rural RCMP have received nearly 50 complaints in regards to stolen generators.  In many of the complaints, the generators have been taken from the boxes of pickups.

The RCMP would like to encourage the public to take preventative measures against the theft of their property, such as:

• If possible, put the generator in an area that would make the theft very physically awkward to commit.
• Park vehicles or equipment in a manner that blocks would be thieves from removing the generator without serious effort.
• Use Chains and padlocks. Chain the generator to another piece of equipment, preferably something that is large and cumbersome.
• Buy insurance, take photos, and write down serial numbers.

Grande Prairie RCMP charge male in child pornography investigation

Grande Prairie, Alberta – On August 3, 2017, the Grande Prairie RCMP General Investigation Section with assistance of Calgary Police Service and the RCMP’s Southern Alberta General Investigation Section, located and arrested a male in Calgary for child pornography related charges.

As a result of information received by the National Child Exploitation Coordination Centre in Ottawa and in partnership with ALERT’s Internet Child Exploitation Unit (ICE), Grande Prairie RCMP- General Investigation Section executed a search warrant at a residence in Grande Prairie on August 2, 2017 in relation to the possession and distribution of child pornography.  At the time of the search warrant, the suspect was not located.

Wally ADAMS from Grande Prairie (29) was located in Calgary the following day and has been charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

• Possession of child pornography
• Making child pornography available

ADAMS has been released from custody and is to appear in Provincial Court on September 27, 2017.

Due to the complex nature of such cases, the investigation will continue.

ICE is an integrated team consisting of Calgary Police, Edmonton Police, Lethbridge Police, Medicine Hat Police, and RCMP officers, and investigates offences involving child pornography, any computer-related child sexual abuse, child luring over the Internet, voyeurism involving victims under the age of 18, and child sex trade/tourism.

Police receive reports of online criminal activity, including child pornography offences from a variety of sources. Grande Prairie RCMP investigate armed robbery

Grande Prairie, Alberta – On August 13, 2017 at approximately 1:15 AM, Grande Prairie RCMP responded to an armed robbery at a local restaurant in the area of 100 Street and 121 Avenue.

While conducting their investigation, police learned that one lone male entered the restaurant brandishing a firearm and demanded money. The male suspect exited the establishment with an undisclosed amount of cash and fled on foot from the location.  Employees present at the time were not injured during this incident.

Police Dog Service assisted but was unsuccessful in locating the suspect.

The male suspect is described as:

• Caucasian
• Slim build
• 180 lbs
• Wearing grey sweat pants, a hoody with a black hood.

Grande Prairie RCMP investigate aggravated assault

Grande Prairie, Alberta – On August 13 at approximately 1:00 AM, Grande Prairie RCMP responded to a disturbance in the back alley in the area of 100 Avenue and 105 Street.

Police attended the location and found one male victim had been stabbed during an altercation with another male. The suspect fled in a vehicle before police arrived on scene. The male victim suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries and was transported to the hospital via ambulance. It’s believed that no other individual was injured during this incident.

Grande Prairie RCMP Traffic Stop Nets Criminal Charges

Grande Prairie, Alberta – On July 6, 2017 Grande Prairie Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) attempted to stop a vehicle which fled from police at a high rated speed. The male driver along with the vehicle were known to police and was not followed for public safety reasons.

On July 7, 2017 the Crime Reduction Unit located the male suspect and the vehicle parked in the Patterson residential area in Grande Prairie. Police arrested the lone male without any further incident. While conducting their investigation police seized an imitation of a handgun; 37 grams of Crystal Meth; 12 grams of Cocaine and under 1 gram of Heroine.

27-year-old, Grande Prairie male, Tyler MEAGHER has been charged with the following Criminal Code Offences:

1. Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
2. Operate a motor vehicle when pursued by police
3. Possession for the purpose of trafficking x 3
4. Use of imitation weapon in the commission of an offence
5. Possession of property obtained by crime

MEAGHER was also charged for driving while unauthorized under the Traffic Safety Act. He is to appear in Provincial Court on July 26, 2017.

Grande Prairie RCMP Investigate Nine Impaired Driving Incidents

Grande Prairie, Alberta – Between 5:00 PM on Wednesday May 10, 2017 and 6:00 AM on Thursday May 11, 2017, RCMP took nine (9) impaired drivers off the road.

In anticipation of the summer months to come, the RCMP would like to remind motorist to be responsible and arrange for alternative transportation when consuming alcohol.

Grande Prairie RCMP officers will continue to be a constant presence to help ensure the safety of motorist and pedestrians with a specific focus on locating and removing impaired drivers from the roads. The police, encourage members of the public to call 911 if they suspect an impaired driver.
